This weekend was spent in the Chicago area visiting my in-laws for a very important reason… Cardinals versus Cubs game at Wrigley!
I have been to Wrigley a few times in the past always for Cardinals games, but it has probably been at least a decade since my last visit.
We stopped at the Cubbie Bear for a drink before the game. I also ordered their “World Famous Garlic Fries”… they were awesome! There was a surprising amount of red floating around the Cubbie Bear, they don’t call us the best fans in baseball for no reason!
The guy selling these is a brave soul.
Wrigley is a classic old stadium and makes me miss old Busch. I love our new baseball heaven but I do miss the arch architecture of old Busch!
Wrigley doesn’t have a jumbo-tron which is currently under debate in Chicago… honestly they need one! There is A LOT of downtime in baseball and it got really boring with no forms of entertainment besides that tiny screen you see above. On a positive note though I really liked the graphics they used above.
That is not to say there wasn’t any entertainment… there was this guy. A Cubs Richard Simmons I guess. He was having a GREAT time in the bleachers of Wrigley!
A shout out to Harry Caray. A little baseball trivia, Caray started his career announcing for the Saint Louis Cardinals!
These are the super awesome shoes I made for the game. I think they turned out awesome! They have little baseballs on the back where the “TOMS” tag would be.
We left Wrigley with 5 losers and 1 winner… sometimes it is nice to be in the minority!
Overall, Wrigley is no Busch Stadium but it was really fun to be cheering for the opposing team. What was even more fun is that it seemed the crowd was around 50/50 Cards and Cubs fans! I love that this rivalry is so strong and both sets of fans have so much passion for their team (even if one of the teams is reallllllly realllllly bad)!
